TOMAH – Breanna Ackley scored five of her 19 points in overtime and Paige Kolbeck made a pair of big baskets in the extra frame to lift the Stratford girls basketball team to a 51-45 victory over Tomah in a nonconference contest Tuesday night at Tomah High School.

Stratford led 27-18 at halftime before Tomah stormed back behind Ella Plueger’s 11 points in the second half to tie the game at 42-42 and send it to overtime.

In the extra period, Stratford held the Timberwolves to just one basket, a 3-pointer from Emily Powell, and pulled ahead behind a 3-pointer and two free throws from Ackley, and Kolbeck’s two hoops.

Ackley was 9-for-10 at the free throw line – 4-for-4 after halftime – and added nine rebounds for the Tigers (1-1). Kamryn Schueller added 10 points, and Kolbeck and Tanaya Schillinger each added eight points in the win.

Stratford returns to action Friday with home Marawood North-South crossover game against Prentice as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 5:45 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
