CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield boys hockey team couldn’t find a way to stop Chippewa Falls and lost a nonconference game Tuesday night 8-0 on the road.

Marshfield had 24 shots on goal, but all were stopped by Cardinals’ goaltender Bridger Fixmer.

Brady Fixmer and Nick Carlson each had two goals, and Owen Krista had a goal and two assists for Chippewa Falls, which was playing its season opener.

“We played the first two periods hard, but we faded in the third after giving up an early goal,” Marshfield coach Eric Bowman said. “Chippewa Falls has a talented team, and they punished us for small mistakes that we have been getting away with in our first games. Our offense generated chances throughout the first and the second period, we just have to start taking advantage of our chances.”

Marshfield (1-2-1) will play its home and Wisconsin Valley Conference opener against Stevens Point at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
