Stratford wrestling pins seven, beats Nekoosa/Assumption in season opener

NEKOOSA – The Stratford wrestling team had seven pins, six in the first period, and opened its 2019-20 season with a 58-12 win over Nekoosa/Assumption on Thursday night.

Gavin Drexler (132 pounds), Max Schwabe (138), Konner Stuttgen (145), Devin Dennee (170), Trevor Dennee (195) and Cole Marten (220) each won by pin in the first period, and Gavin Kirsch (152) had a second-period pin for the Tigers.

Karter Stuttgen earned a major decision at 120 pounds, and Jake Heiden (160) and Hunter Ford (182) won by forfeit for Stratford.

Stratford will host its annual Schoenherr Duals on Saturday. Barron, Crandon, Southern Door, Wautoma/Wild Rose and Phillips will be the competition.
