Columbus Catholic girls basketball tops Spencer for first Cloverbelt East victory

SPENCER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team ended a three-game losing streak and earned its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division win of the season, beating Spencer 44-30 on Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Addison Baierl scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the first half as the Dons (2-3, 1-1 Cloverbelt East) led 20-16 heading into halftime.

Columbus Catholic pulled away in the second half, limiting Spencer to 14 points.

Emmalee Jicinsky added 14 points for the Dons.

Heavyn Kind and Aryiah Schuh each scored eight points to lead Spencer (2-3, 1-2 Cloverbelt East).

Both teams return to action Tuesday. Columbus Catholic will host Granton and Spencer will travel to Owen-Withee for Cloverbelt East games.
