ATHENS – The Stratford girls basketball team won its second-straight Marawood Conference game, downing Athens 50-31 in a North-South crossover game on Friday night at Athens High School.
Stratford used a stifling defense to hold Athens to just 10 made field goals and held the Bluejays under 20 points in each half.
Breanna Ackley had 21 points, including the Tigers’ only two 3-pointers, and Emily Hughes added 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the way for Stratford (3-4, 2-3 Marawood South).
Stratford will play at the Bangor Tournament on Dec. 27-28.
