STRATFORD – Vaughn Breit had his biggest game of the season to help push the Stratford boys basketball team to a 64-51 win over Wausau East in the championship game of the Stratford Holiday Tournament on Saturday at Stratford High School.

Breit had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Tigers, who remain perfect on the season at 6-0.

Stratford led 31-24 at halftime and methodically pulled away to the 13-point win over Wausau East (5-4).

Ben Barten added 17 points and eight rebounds, and Dawson Danen had Stratford’s only three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points for the Tigers.

Gabe Krueger had 15 points to lead the Lumberjacks.

Stratford will host Auburndale (9-0) in a Marawood Conference South Division battle of state-ranked teams on Jan. 3. Stratford was ranked second and Auburndale eighth in last week’s Wissports.net Division 4 Coaches Poll.
