Colby holds off Spencer girls basketball

SPENCER – Emma Peavey scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half to help the Colby girls basketball team finish off Spencer and win 64-51 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Hailey Voelker had 17 of her game-high 23 points in the first half as Colby built a 27-20 lead. Peavey, and 10 points from Lexi Krebsbach, helped the Hornets to a 37-point second half as they held on for the win and improve to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the Cloverbelt East.

Heavyn Kind had 18 points, 14 in the second half, for Spencer (4-7, 2-6 Cloverbelt East). Madison Knecht and Aryiah Schuh each chipped in 11 for the Rockets.

Spencer will play a nonconference game at Athens on Monday, while Colby plays at Granton on Tuesday in a Cloverbelt East matchup.
