Auburndale girls basketball wins at Assumption

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Natalie Aue scored nine of her team-high 13 points in the second half as the Auburndale girls basketball team held off Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 54-38 in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Thursday night at Assumption High School.

Taylor Stanton and Kaitlyn Kundinger added 10 points each for Auburndale, which improves to 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the Marawood South.

The Apaches led 24-13 after a dominating first half and was able to hold on from there as they made 11 free throws in the second half.

Jessie Grundhoffer had 12 points to lead the Royals (8-5, 5-4 Marawood South).

Assumption will host Stevens Point Pacelli on Saturday and play at Edgar on Monday. Auburndale is off until Tuesday when it plays at Marathon.
