STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic held Stratford to just seven made baskets and held off the Tigers 32-22 in a low-scoring Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday at Stratford High School.
Newman led 17-6 at halftime and were able to hold on in the second half with a stingy defensive effort.
Jadelyn Ganski had 10 points for the Cardinals, who improve to 11-3 overall and remain in first place at 9-1 in the Marawood South.
Paige Kolbeck and Breanna Ackley both had six points for Stratford (4-10, 3-7 Marawood South).
Both teams hit the road for Marawood crossover games Friday. Newman will be at Chequamegon and Stratford travels to Phillips.
