Marshfield girls basketball snags road win at Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls basketball team did just enough to earn another big Wisconsin Valley Conference win.

The Tigers made 17 of 27 free throws and hauled down 34 rebounds in a 61-56 victory over Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

Marshfield led 33-26 at halftime and held off the Raiders at the end.

Kaydee Johnson had 16 points and nine rebounds, Maddie Michaelis added 14 points, six rebounds and five steals, and Quincy Lang chipped in seven points and six rebounds off the bench for the Tigers.

Marshfield takes over sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, improving to 7-1 and 9-5 overall. The Tigers are one-half game ahead of Stevens Point, which played a nonconference game Tuesday. Click here to view the WVC girls basketball standings

Wisconsin Rapids falls to 7-10 and 3-5 in the Valley. Rapids’ statistics were not provided.

Marshfield hosts Merrill on Friday, while Rapids travels to Stevens Point. The Marshfield game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
