AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team dominated the first half and cruised to a 72-35 over Pittsville in a nonconference game Monday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale raced out to a 42-17 lead by halftime and built its lead from there.
Georgi Schmutzer made three 3-pointers and had a game-high 17 points for Auburndale (13-5). Natalie Aue added 14 points and Lauren Peplinski chipped in 13 in the win.
Madalyn Carpenter topped Pittsville (6-13) with 12 points.
Auburndale hosts Prentice for a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday.
