Marathon races past Columbus Catholic boys basketball

MARSHFIELD – Marathon snapped a three-game losing streak with a resounding 90-68 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a nonconference boys basketball game Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Matt Vandeboom had 27 points and Brock Warren added 20 for Marathon, which improves to 6-9 this season.

Tom Nystrom led three Columbus players in double figures with 21 points. Eden Jacobson added 14 and Jadon Nienast chipped in 12 for the Dons (7-9).

Columbus Catholic hosts Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Marathon hosts Abbotsford for Marawood Conference crossover on Friday.
