Marshfield girls basketball outlasts D.C. Everest for eighth-straight win

SCHOFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team extended its winning streak to eight with a 50-39 win over D.C. Everest on Thursday night at D.C. Everest High School.

With the victory Marshfield improves to 12-5 overall and 9-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, one-half game ahead of Stevens Point (12-6, 8-1 WVC) for the top spot in the standings. Point defeated Merrill on Thursday.

Maddie Michaelis scored 18 points, Desirae Weisenberger added 12 points, Kaydee Johnson had six points and eight assists, and Paige Preston had eight rebounds for Marshfield.

Marshfield will wrap up its Wisconsin Valley Conference season next week with a pair of home games as it looks to earn at least a share of its first conference championship since the 2015-16 season. Marshfield will host Wausau West on Tuesday and Wausau West next Friday, Feb. 14. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Boson Company Fieldhouse.
