LOYAL – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team pulled away in the second half to down Loyal 44-38 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Friday night at Loyal High School.
Columbus Catholic trailed 19-18 at halftime before holding Loyal to just four made baskets in the second half. While the Greyhounds did make 11 of 17 free throws in the final 18 minutes, Columbus was able to do enough to pull off the win.
Annia Brown and Meghan Kibbel each scored seven points, and Kelsey Moore added six in the second half to push the Dons to the victory.
Brown had 13 points and Kibbel 12 to lead the Dons, who improve to 10-10 overall and 9-6 in the Cloverbelt East.
Savannah Schley topped Loyal (15-5, 12-3 Cloverbelt East) with 12 points.
Columbus Catholic will host Neillsville in its final Cloverbelt East game on Monday. Loyal is at Owen-Withee on Monday.
