Auburndale boys basketball falls at home to Wittenberg-Birnamwood

AUBURNDALE – Brendan Resch made six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points to lift Wittenberg-Birnamwood to a 52-51 upset of Auburndale in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale lost for the second time in its past four games and drops to 17-3 this season. Wittenberg-Birnamwood is now 10-9.

Hunter Wright had 15 points, and Cooper Weinfurter had 14 points and eight rebounds for Auburndale.

Each team made eight 3-pointers in the game.

Auburndale will host Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com, and live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-stream. Stratford can clinch the Marawood South title with a win and Auburndale needs a victory to stay in the chase as the season winds down in the next 10 days.
