Spencer girls basketball tops Abbotsford

SPENCER – Heavyn Kind scored 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Spencer girls basketball team to a 45-37 nonconference win over Abbotsford on Monday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer improves to 7-14 this season, while Abbotsford falls to 3-18.

Jorie Meyer and Amber Becker each had six points and five rebounds, Elexa Post also had six points, Aryiah Schuh had five points, and Madison Knecht had five rebounds for Spencer.

Abbotsford statistics were not reported.

Spencer will play an eighth-place game in the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Thursday at Eau Claire Regis to finish its regular-season schedule. The Rockets open the WIAA postseason at Stratford in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Feb. 25.

Abbotsford plays a Marawood Conference North Division game at Rib Lake on Thursday and will open the playoffs at Necedah on Feb. 25.
