STRATFORD – The Stratford girls basketball team jumped out to a big lead early and held on to defeat Nekoosa 63-48 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.
Stratford (8-13) led 36-18 at halftime and were able to maintain its double-digit lead to the end.
Breanna Ackley made six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 30 points for the Tigers. Emily Hughes added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Tanaya Schillinger had nine rebounds in the win for Stratford.
Stratford will finish its regular-season schedule at home against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in Marawood Conference South Division action Thursday. The Tigers open WIAA Division 4 postseason action with a regional quarterfinal at home next Tuesday, Feb. 25, against Spencer.
