WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids wrapped up its Wisconsin Valley Conference championship season with a 3-0 win over Marshfield in boys soccer action Thursday.

Jake Panzer scored in the first half and Mitch Umnus netted a pair of goals off corner kicks in the second half to lift the Raiders to the victory.

Marshfield finishes the regular season with an 8-13-2 record and a 4-8 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Rapids won the conference title by a comfortable two games, finishing 11-1 in WVC play.

“I thought we played very respectable,” Marshfield coach Ron Todryk said. “We made a couple of lineup changes to be more offensive-minded. I felt in the latter half of the second half we got the tempo and put some pressure on Rapids.”

Marshfield is the 10th seed in its WIAA Division 1 sectional and will play a regional semifinal Tuesday at New Richmond.

“New Richmond has a very impressive record,” Todryk said. “Hopefully we can stay in there and give them a good fight.”
