Marshfield finishes ninth at WIAA State Team Gymnastics Meet

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield gymnastics team, making its second-straight trip to the WIAA State Gymnastics Championships, finished ninth out of 11 teams in the Division 1 standings at the team competition on Friday at Lincoln High School.

Marshfield finished with a team score of 134.752, which was three points better than last year, but finished one spot lower in the standings. Hartford won the team title with a combined score of 144.75, with the Wilmot Co-op second at 142.116.

Senior Gracie Holland, the defending Division 1 individual all-around state champion, will compete in the individual meet on Saturday. On Friday in the team competition, Holland led the Tigers in all four events finishing with scores of 9.367 in the balance beam, 9.317 in the uneven bars, 9.25 in the floor exercise, and 9.067 in the vault.

Alexis Mushel had an 8.767 in the floor, Ellie Jensen had scores of 7.783 in the bars and 7.867 in the beam, Hannah Merkel put up scores of 8.317 in the beam, 8.567 in the floor and 7.9 in the bars, and Sophie Nikolay had an 8.45 in the floor and 8.183 in the vault as well for the Tigers.
