AUBURNDALE – Auburndale raced out to a 23-point lead by halftime and was able to cruise to a 79-46 win over Phillips in a WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional semifinal Friday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches led 44-21 at intermission and was able to hold on from there, building their lead to 33 by the end.
Auburndale (19-4) will host Edgar (18-5) in a D-4 regional final at 7 p.m. Saturday. The two Marawood Conference South Division foes split a pair of games during the regular season, each winning on the road.
Fletcher Raab made five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points for Auburndale. Cooper Weinfurter added 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists, and Hunter Wright chipped in 10 for the Apaches.
Eleven of the 12 Auburndale players that saw action hit the scoring column in the victory.
Tabor Fawley had 15 points for Phillips, which finishes the season at 14-10.
