During the coming weeks, MarshfieldAreaSports.com will be highlighting area high school senior student-athletes with our Senior Salute series.
The series continues with a look at the Auburndale High School softball team.
Auburndale finished as the co-champions of the Marawood Conference South Division last year, tying for first place with Wisconsin Rapids Assumption and Marathon with an 8-2 record. The Apaches finished 13-5 overall, losing in the regional semifinals to Markesan.
The Apaches have five seniors on this year’s squad returning from that conference championship season.
*Natalie Aue, a three-sport athlete at Auburndale, was a second-team all-Marawood South pick last year and will be attending the University of Minnesota in the fall to study art and journalism.
*Abigail Koopman was also a second-team all-conference selection in 2019 and will be going to school at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
*Taylor Stanton is a three-sport athlete at Auburndale and will be attending UW-Madison in the fall.
*Carly Willfahrt earned three letters for the Apaches in softball and will be studying psychology with an emphasis in development at UW-Green Bay in the fall.
*Maggie Willfahrt was an honorable mention all-Marawood South pick last year and will be attending Bellin College in Green Bay for diagnostic medical sonography next fall.
