EAU CLAIRE – Marshfield freshman Rebecca Voss added to her growing, glowing resume with a second-place finish Saturday at the Old Abe Cross Country Invitatiobnal on South Middle School. The meet was hosted by Eau Claire Memorial.
Voss finished in 19:03.61, just 7 seconds behind winner Katie Wetzstein of Hudson.
Marshfield teammates Lisa Kaiser (20:56.54) and Jennifer Kaiser (21:02.95) finished 18th and 19th, respectively, as the Tigers took fourth as a team.
Eau Claire Memorial defended its home turf with the girls team title, edging D.C. Everest 80-82. Menomonie was third with 91 points, followed by Marshfield with 115.
The Marsfield boys were led by Adam Voss and Bryan Zimmerman.
Voss finished 12th in 17:18.9 and was closely followed by Zimmerman, who was 13th in 17:19.43.
Andrew Faris of Chippewa Falls won the race in 16:00.5/
D.C. Everest won the boys team title with 43 points. Hudson was second with 59. Marshfield took fourth with 106 as Aaron Anderson (20th) and Adam Binder (25th) had top-25 finishes in the 112-person field.
Marshfield is off until the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet, which it hosts Oct. 16 at Frey Field in Spencer.
