RIB LAKE – Carl Lundgren won the boys race to lead the Auburndale cross country team to the team victory at the Rib Lake Quad on Thursday at Rib Lake Elementary School.
Lindgren won the boys race in 17:41, 59 seconds ahead of Rib Lake/Prentice’s Adam Granberg.
Charles Jewell was third (18:51), Gavin White Eagle fourth (19:10), and Mason White Eagle fifth (19:10) for the newly-named Eagles.
Auburndale finished with 23 points, Phillips was second with 49 and Rib Lake/Prentice third with 58. Wisconsin Rapids Assumption had an incomplete squad with less than five runners.
In the girls race, Ainara Sainz de Rozas won for Assumption in 20:36, just three seconds ahead of Serena Moore of Rib Lake/Prentice. Cristin Casey added a third-place finish in 21:00 and Grace Dolan was fourth in 21:23 for Assumption, which easily won the girls title with 28 points.
Auburndale finished a distant second with 49 points behind top-10 finishes from McKenna Zieher (fifth, 21:33), Jordyn Karl (sixth, 21:42) and Erricka Zenner (10th, 22:45).
Auburndale will take a week off before competing at the Assumption Invitational at Tri-City Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids on Sept. 17.
