Wausau East/West wins first leg of WVC girls golf tournament, Marshfield fourth

WESTON – Wausau East/West had four of the top six scores to run away with the team title at the opening leg of the 2020 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Thursday at Crane Meadows Golf Course.

Tess Bruner shot a 41 to win medalist honors and Jasmine Uang had a 43 to earn the top two spots in the individual standings for Wausau East/West.

East/West finished with a team score of 184, with Wisconsin Rapids second with a 206, D.C. Everest third with a 222, and Marshfield fourth with a 240.

Dylan Gruszynski of Wisconsin Rapids finished third with a 46, one shot ahead of teammate Faith Courl.

Morgan Meyer finished 10th with a 53 to lead Marshfield. Anna Weis added a 56, Bryssa Lenz shot a 59 and Sophie Lee had a 72 to round out the Tigers’ scorers.

D.C. Everest’s top golfer was Ashtyn Fernstaedt, who tied for seventh with a 52.

The second leg of the tournament will be Friday at Tribute Golf Course in Wausau.
