Columbus Catholic soccer edges Mosinee to improve to 2-0

MOSINEE – Mosinee outshot Marshfield Columbus Catholic by a more than 3-to-1 margin, but the Dons were able eke out a road win, 3-2, on Saturday in a nonconference soccer match.

Mosinee held shot advantages of 32-10 overall and 20-7 on goal, but Columbus Catholic was able to make the most of its opportunities to win its second-straight game to start the season.

Alex Edwards had three goals and Grant Olson added another as the Dons opened up a 4-1 lead by halftime.

Mosinee came within one goal scoring with 2:51 remaining, but the Dons were able to hold on.

Wyatt Drexler had 17 saves in goal for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic will play a nonconference game at Medford at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
