SPENCER – The Colby/Abbotsford boys and Colby girls won team titles at the Spencer Cross Country Triangular on Thursday at Frey Field.
Only 16 boys and 12 girls took part in the races as Columbus Catholic brought only four runners to the meet and the Spencer girls had just four athletes compete.
Chase Oehmichen of Colby/Abbotsford won the boys race in 17:30, with Andrew Scheer of Columbus Catholic taking second in 18:00. Nathen Nemitz was third for the Dons in 19:31.
Spencer’s top runner was Cameron Nieman, who finished sixth in 20:25.
Trinity Severson of Colby won the girls race in 22:33.
Leah Zastrow of Spencer too third in 24:28, six seconds ahead of teammate Emily Wehrman, who placed fourth.
Columbus Catholic’s lone runner was Charlotte Schiferl, who finished 11th in 29:20.
Columbus Catholic will compete at Osseo-Fairchild and Spencer will be at Athens on Oct. 1.
