Marshfield volleyball swept by first-place Wausau East

MARSHFIELD – Tiffany Stargardt had eight kills and 13 digs, and Kim Johnson added six kills but the Marshfield volleyball team was swept by first-place Wausau East 26-24, 25-22, 25-19, in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Tuesday at Marshfield High School.

The Tigers fall to 6-5 in the WVC, while East clinched at least a tie for the conference championship by improving to 9-2.

Sarah Wolff had 22 assists to lead the offense, and Darian Molter had 14 digs and Sarah Cherney added 12 digs to help the Marshfield defense.

The Tigers close out Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at home against Wisconsin Rapids.

Marshfield opens WIAA Division 1 regional action with a semifinal match on Oct. 21.
