Marshfield’s Weis finishes sixth at fifth leg of WVC girls golf tournament

WAUSAU – Wausau East/West’s Jasmine Yang took the overall lead in the individual standings after tying for first place with a 42 at the fifth leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Thursday at Greenwood Hills Country Club.

East/West won for the fifth-straight time with a score of 188, with Wisconsin Rapids finishing second in its fifth meet in a row with a 197. D.C. Everest took third with a 219 and Marshfield was fourth with a 237.

Yang tied Wisconsin Rapids’ Dylan Gruszynski for medalist honors, with East/West’s Tess Bruner third with a 46.

Anna Weis led Marshfield with a 51, finishing sixth and with that, moved into 10th in the overall standings.

Morgan Meyer had a 59, Sophie Lee shot a 62, Raina Manlick had a 65 and Bryssa Lenz shot a 72 for the Tigers.

The sixth leg of the tournament is Friday at Marshfield Country Club.
