Wausau West sweeps Marshfield girls tennis

MARSHFIELD – Wausau West won five of the seven matches in straight sets and defeated Marshfield 7-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis match on Thursday at the Boson Tennis Complex.

The Tigers’ No. 3 doubles team of Loryn Jakobi and Allison Kloos took West’s Andreanna Wilke and Mollie Lemke to a third set, but fell short, losing 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Marshfield’s No. 4 singles player, Sandra Costa, also went to a third set in her match by Stella Harder before falling 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.

All of the other five wins by West (3-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) were in straight sets.

Marshfield (2-2) returns to conference action Friday, Oct. 9, at Wisconsin Rapids. The Tigers will compete in the WIAA Division 1 subsectional Monday at West De Pere. The sectional will also be at West De Pere on Wednesday.
