MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield High School football team made its much-anticipated 2020 debut after a two-week delay, however it didn’t go as well as the Tigers would have hoped.

Marshfield was unable to get its offense going as Menomonie held the Tigers to 138 total yards and just six first downs, and dominating in a 32-0 nonconference win on Friday night at Heiting Community Stadium.

Ryan Kahl had a pair of long touchdown passes in the first half to help the Mustangs (2-1) pull away early.

After each team went three-and-out on its first two possessions, Kahl hit Devauntaye Parker for a middle screen and the senior running back raced 66 yards for a touchdown to give Menomonie a 7-0 lead with 4:39 to go in the first half.

Will Ockler capped a long 10-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and Kahl connected with Brock Thorton for a 41-yard touchdown to give the Mustangs a 21-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Mustangs dominated defensively in the second half, holding Marshfield to just one first down and five three-and-outs on its six possessions.

Parker had a 2-yard touchdown run on fourth down on Menomonie’s first possession of the second half and Kaleb Kazmarek had a 21-yard field goal three plays in the fourth quarter to finish off the scoring.

Logan Durham had 33 yards rushing on 13 carries to lead the Tigers’ offense. Quarterback Will Fetting was just 4-for-13 for 59 yards passing and threw a pair of interceptions.

Marshfield will host D.C. Everest in its Valley Football Association opener next Friday, Oct. 16, at Heiting Community Stadium. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
