The Auburndale volleyball team had an odd doubleheader on Saturday, adding to the odd season it has been.

The Eagles traveled to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption for a 10 a.m. match, then returned home and took on Wausau Newman Catholic at 3 p.m. Didn’t matter much to Auburndale, however, as it swept both matches 3-0 to remain undefeated in the Marawood Conference South Division this season.

Auburndale beat Assumption 25-17-25-21, 25-10, and Newman 25-12, 25-23, 25-20, to move its record to 4-0 in the Marawood South.

The pair of victories sets up a battle with Stratford, also 4-0, for the Marawood South title on Monday at Stratford High School at 7 p.m.

Against Assumption, Georgi Schmutzer had eight kills, seven digs and 19 assists, and Josie Ertl and Kaitlyn Kundinger each had six kills for the Eagles. Maddie Krings added a team-high nine digs in the win.

In the victory over Newman Catholic, Ertl had nine kills, Schmutzer had 22 assists, and Krings had 25 digs.
