Marshfield volleyball sweeps Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield volleyball team took another step closer to its first Wisconsin Valley Conference championship since 2006 with a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday night at Lincoln High School.

The Tigers won 25-18, 25-16, 29-27, to improve to 8-2 in the Valley.

Marshfield has matches scheduled against Hortonville and D.C. Everest remaining on its schedule, but whether those are played due to the WIAA playoffs is uncertain. Teams have the opportunity to play matches until Nov. 7 even if they are knocked out of the playoffs.

Caitlyn Pernsteiner and Brooklyn Boushack each had 11 kills, Boushack added a team-high 17 digs, and Taylor Barwick had 22 assists and 15 digs to lead the way for Marshfield.

Quincy Lang also had six service aces for the Tigers.

Marshfield will host Wausau West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday at Marshfield High School. West beat Wausau East 25-12, 31-29, 25-17, in a regional quarterfinal on Tuesday. The match will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
