AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale football team made the switch back to 11-man football to try to get some competition in this season and it worked out just fine as the Eagles cruised to a 61-12 win over Thorp on Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale rolled out to a 40-6 lead by halftime and finished with 346 total yards while holding Thorp to just 205.
Quarterback Hunter Wright scored four touchdowns, three on the ground and one on an interception return on defense, and also threw for three more scores for the Eagles.
Schuyler Gilhausen, Alex Willfahrt and Kaden Hoffman caught TD pass from Wright, and Terrance Roberson added a pair of rushing touchdowns for Auburndale.
Roberson had 94 yards rushing, Wright added 80 on the ground and 162 through the air.
Auburndale (3-0) will host Altoona on Oct. 30.
