SPENCER – Spencer/Columbus Catholic found itself down two touchdowns after one quarter of play, but from there the Rockets were nearly unstoppable.

Spencer/Columbus scored 32 unanswered points and defeated Weyauwega-Fremont 32-21 in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday night at Spencer High School.

Eden Jacobson ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns, and Max McGiveron added a pair of scoring runs for the Rockets, who improve to 4-2 overall and in the CWC Large this season. Weyauwega-Fremont is now 0-4 overall and in conference play.

“Weyauwega-Fremont got off to a great start,” SC coach Jason Gorst said. “We were flat and were outplayed and outcoached in the first quarter. Our guys really turned it around from there scoring 32 unanswered. Eden had a big game on offense and Cole Timmler had a good one on defense with big pick. Gage Stratman did a great job with onside and pooch kickoffs.”

Muluken Rucks caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Quinn Dittman and Parker Groskreutz raced 60 yards for another scored to give Weyauwega-Fremont a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

McGiveron scored on a 6-yard run to get the Rockets on the board and Eden Jacobson followed with a 2-yard scoring run four minutes later, tying the score at 14-14 going into halftime.

McGiveron had a 6-yard TD early in the third quarter to give the Rockets the lead for good, and Jacobson added scoring runs of 1 and 48 yards in the fourth quarter to open up a 32-14 lead.

Weyauwega-Fremont scored in the final minute, with Rucks catching a 22-yard touchdown pass from Dittman.

Dittman finished with 176 yards passing, 103 to Rucks on five plays, to lead the Indians’ offense.

SC piled up 317 yards on the ground and 382 in all in the victory.

Spencer/Columbus will wrap up its regular-season schedule at Amherst on Nov. 6.
