Stratford football blanks Neillsville/Granton in WIAA Division 4 postseason game

STRATFORD – After two weeks off, the Stratford football team returned to action for a WIAA Division 4 postseason game and had no problems with Neillsville/Granton, rolling to a 38-0 win on Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Stratford (4-2) dominated defensively, holding Neillsville/Granton (1-7) to just 105 yards and without a point.

Kainoa Gouveia had a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and quarterback Max Vanderhoof tossed touchdown passes of 8 yards to Beau Gross, 10 yards to Devin Ulrich, and 9 yards to Elijah Lucio in the win.

Vanderhoof finished with 131 yards on 11 of 16 passing, and Gross had 58 yards rushing to lead the Stratford offense. Gross added four catches for 73 yards and the touchdown.

Stratford will take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood (2-3) in its final WIAA postseason game on Thursday at Tiger Stadium. Stratford beat the Chargers 35-8 in the season opener on Sept. 25.
