Loyal tops Spencer in girls basketball opener

SPENCER – The Spencer girls basketball team opened its 2020-21 season with a 61-40 loss to Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Heavyn Kind had 16 points, Zalexis Mannigel added nine and Rebecca Mlsna eight for the Rockets.

Paige Smith had a team-high 17 points, Katlyn Lindner scored 14 points and Savannah Schley added 13 for Loyal.

Spencer plays at Owen-Withee on Dec. 1, while Loyal is off until Dec. 3 at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
