Columbus Catholic girls basketball wins opener over Lourdes at Cranberry Classic

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Jenna Kibbel had 14 points and Hailey Zimmermann hit a pair of 3-pointers to help push the Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 52-33 win over Oshkosh Lourdes in the first round of the Cranberry Classic on Friday afternoon at Assumption High School.

Columbus Catholic (1-1) led 23-15 at halftime and held Lourdes to just six made baskets in the second half to pull away.

Zimmermann scored all nine of her points in the second half. Emmalee Jicinsky added eight points, and Meghan Kibbel and Maggie Callaghan each had seven for the Dons.

Molly Moore led Lourdes (0-2) with 10 points.

Columbus will play Shawano (2-0), a 59-51 winner over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, in the championship game at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. Assumption (1-1) will take Lourdes in the consolation game at 12:15 p.m. Both games will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.

Columbus Catholic lost its season opener at Phillips 65-36. Kelsey Moore had 12 points and Callaghan added 10 for the Dons.
