Wisconsin Rapids pounds Marshfield girls basketball in Tigers’ opener

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls basketball team shot just 27 percent from the field and dropped its 2020-21 season opener 72-42 at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School on Tuesday.

Wisconsin Rapids ran out to a 39-26 lead by halftime and held the Tigers to only 16 points in the second half to build on its lead.

Marshfield made just 13 of 48 field goal attempts and were just 4 of 23 from 3-point range.

Maddie Michaelis, Quincy Lang and Danielle Minsaas each scored eight points to lead Marshfield.

Wisconsin Rapids improves to 1-2 overall by winning its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener.

Megan Clary and Vanessa Vechinski each had 22 points for the Raiders.

Marshfield will host Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday at 7:15 p.m. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
