Auburndale girls basketball edges Assumption in overtime

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Annamarie Aue made five 3-pointers, including a pair in overtime, to help lift the Auburndale girls basketball team to a 58-55 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in its 2020-21 season opener Tuesday night at Assumption High School.

Aue scored 18 of her game-high 23 points after halftime, including 12 in the second half and six more in overtime, for the Eagles.

The game was tight throughout, with Assumption earning a 24-23 lead at halftime and the Eagles forcing overtime with a one-point advantage in the second half.

Kaitlyn Kundinger added 17 points, including three in overtime, as the Eagles outscored Assumption (2-2 overall, 1-1 Marawood South) 11-8.

Ainara Martin scored 17 points and Jessie Grundhoffer added 16 for the Royals.

Auburndale plays at Abbotsford and Assumption will be at Phillips on Friday in a Marawood North-South crossover games.
