Spencer girls basketball drops home game to Neillsville

SPENCER – Bella Opelt scored 20 points and Amelia Trunkel added 18 as the Neillsville girls basketball team won its season opener, defeating Spencer 65-24 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Ten Neillsville players scored in all as the Warriors earned a win in their first game of the season.

Zalexis Mannigel and Heavyn Kind each scored six points for Spencer, which drops to 1-2 overall and in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer hosts Wausau Newman in a nonconference game Monday. Neillsville returns to action Tuesday at home against Owen-Withee.
