Stratford girls basketball dominates Marathon

MARATHON – Breanna Ackley and Emily Hughes combined for 42 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Stratford girls basketball team to a dominating 54-31 win over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Tuesday at Marathon High School.

Ackley had four 3-pointers, was 6 of at the free throw line, and finished with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Hughes scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who are now 3-1 overall and in the Marawood South.

Anna Cleven led Marathon (1-2 overall and Marawood South) with nine points.

Both reams return to action Friday with Marawood crossover games. Stratford will host Athens and Marathon will be at home against Rib Lake.
