MARSHFIELD – Despite a limited roster of just eight varsity swimmers, D.C. Everest was able to pull past Marshfield 90-78 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swim meet Thursday at Marshfield High School.
The Evergreens (3-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) won all 11 events, including three by less than a second and another – the 200 medley relay – by just 1.2 seconds.
David Mayer set a new Marshfield pool record in the 200 individual medley, winning in 1:47.12, and also won the 500 freestyle in sizzling 4:58.98.
Benjamin Halambeck and Brennan Neitzel also each won two individual events, and those two, along with Trayton Rowland and Nicholas Melnyk, won the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Marshfield placed second in every race.
Myles Jensen was second in the 200 freestyle (1:54.47) and the 500 freestyle (5:23.03), Kyle Berres took second in the 200 individual medley (2:25.03) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.72), Ethan Dagit finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.66 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (53.66), and Sander Marty was second in the 100 butterlfy (59.91) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.17) for Marshfield.
The four Marshfield swimmers also placed second in the 200 medley relay (1:49.96) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:43.27), and the 200 freestyle relay team of Dane Tollefson, Graham Lonsdale, Matthew Gronski and Henry Hilbelink also placed second in 1:48.26 for the Tigers (1-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Marshfield will compete at Rhinelander on Saturday.
