Spencer girls basketball tops Columbus Catholic

SPENCER – Spencer used a balanced scoring attack to down Columbus Catholic 40-31 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Friday night at Spencer High School.

Heavyn Kind had 10 points, Amber Becker scored eight, Madison Knecht added seven, and Zalexis Mannigel chipped in six for Spencer, which improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Cloverbelt East with the home victory.

Emmalee Jicinsky and Jenna Kibbel each scored eight for Columbus Catholic.

The Dons lost their third-straight game and falls to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Cloverbelt East.

Both teams return to action Monday with Cloverbelt East contests. Spencer will be at Greenwood and Columbus Catholic will play at Colby. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
