Stratford boys basketball beats Newman Catholic in Marawood South opener

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team won its home and Marawood Conference South Division opener on Tuesday, downing previously unbeaten Wausau Newman Catholic 67-54 at Stratford High School.

A day after losing its season opener at Mosinee, the Tigers were able to rebound with a stellar shooting night as they shot 47 percent (21 of 44) overall and were 8 of 16 from 3-point range in the win.

Camden Daul and Cody Miller each made three 3-pointers and scored in double figures for Stratford. Daul finished with 22 points on 7 of 10 shooting and 10 rebounds, and Miller added 14 points as he made all four of his free throw attempts.

Zack Seitz added seven points for the Tigers (1-1, 1-0 Marawood South).

Stratford plays at Marathon on Friday.
