Columbus Catholic boys basketball roughs up Gilman

MARSHFIELD – Gilman, finally playing its season opener, was no match for the undefeated Columbus Catholic boys basketball team as the Dons cruised to an 86-30 win on Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Columbus rolled out to a 50-23 lead by halftime and held the Pirates to just seven points in the second half to win going away.

Columbus Catholic is now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, and will host Athens for a nonconference game at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

Eden Jacobson scored 19 points and Jadon Nienast had 13 for the Dons, who had 11 different players score in the victory.

Andrew Hecker had 21 of Gilman’s 30 points.
