STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield girls basketball team earned its first win of the season, shooting lights out from long range and defeating Stevens Point 61-54 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Marshfield was 10 of 23 from 3-point range and outscored SPASH 25-13 to close the game, changing a five-point deficit into a seven-point victory.
Maddie Michaelis made three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 20 points, Danielle Minsaas added 13 points and five steals, and Brianna Varsho drilled four 3-pointers and scored 12 for the Tigers, who are now 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Stevens Point statistics were not provided. The Panthers fall to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
