Mosinee High School girls basketball player Alexis Frieboth has been voted as the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports December High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award main sponsor for the 2020-21 school year is Awards ‘n’ More of Wisconsin Rapids. The monthly award will continue through June 2021, and the winner of the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports High School Athlete of the Year will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Assumption, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pacelli, Pittsville, Spencer, Stevens Point, Stratford, Thorp and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.
Frieboth earned 594 of the nearly 1,800 votes cast during voting from Jan. 5-11 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
Other nominees for the December award were: Loyal girls basketball player Savannah Schley, Neillsville girls basketball player Bella Opelt, Columbus Catholic boys basketball player Eden Jacobson, and Auburndale boys basketball player Hunter Wright.
Frieboth, a junior guard, scored in double figures in eight of the nine games for Mosinee in December. She had 21 points in a two-point loss to Auburndale on Dec. 29 and had 20 points at Medford in a victory on Dec. 21. Frieboth entered January averaging 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.6 steals per game for Mosinee, which had a 7-3 record going into the new year.

Frieboth joins Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer player Alex Edwards (September), Marshfield girls swimmer Faith Risa (October), and Marshfield football player Wyatt LeMoine (November) as winners of the award during the 2020-21 school year.
