Auburndale boys basketball downs Newman Catholic for seventh win in a row

WAUSAU – Four Auburndale players scored in double figures as the Eagles defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 71-53 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Tuesday at Newman Catholic High School.

Hunter Wright scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Alex Willfahrt and Schuyler Gilhausen each scored 14 points, and Carl Lundgren added 11 for the Eagles, who remain in first place in the Marawood South.

Lundgren was 5-for-6 from the field and Gilhausen hit four 3-pointers for Auburndale, which is now 9-2 overall and 7-1 in the Marawood South following its seventh-straight win.

Mason Prey had 25 points for Newman Catholic (6-3, 5-3 Marawood South).

Auburndale hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday.
