Marshfield gymnastics wins all four events, defeats Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – Alexis Mushel won a pair of events to help lift the Marshfield gymnastics team to a 132.4-123.475 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a Great Northern Conference Large Division dual meet Thursday at Marshfield High School.

Mushel, the only gymnast to participate in the all-around competition in all four events, won the vault with a score of 8.9 and the floor exercise with a score of 8.85 for the Tigers, who are now 3-1 in GNC Large duals this season. She also placed third in the uneven bars with a 7.75.

Kim Backaus won the balance beam with a score of 8.25 and Hanna Merkel took first in the uneven bars with an 8.55 for Marshfield. Backaus also finished second in the vault (8.775) and Merkel was second in the floor exercise (8.8).

Marshfield will host Ashland for a conference dual on Tuesday.
