Wisconsin Rapids edges Marshfield boys hockey

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Josh Dekarske and Carsen Gause each scored a pair of goals to lead the Wisconsin Rapids boys hockey team to a 4-3 win over Marshfield in the Wisconsin Valley Conference finale for both teams on Thursday night at South Wood Country Ice Arena.

Both teams ended up tied for third in the WVC with 5-5 records.

Tristan Reissmann scored early for Marshfield and Noah Peterson added two goals in the final minute for Marshfield.

The Tigers (7-10 overall) wrap up their regular-season schedule with a nonconference game at Baraboo/Portage, at Baraboo, on Friday night. Marshfield will play a WIAA Division 2 regional final at Lakeland on Feb. 4.

Wisconsin Rapids finishes its regular season with a 9-8 record. The Raiders host the Barron Co-op in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday.
